North Beach Athlete T13 Chad Perris has done us proud and recorded his best performance ever in his 200m debut for Australia at the 2013 IPC World Atheltics Championships in Lyon, France.
In heat three of the semi-finals Chad blitzed from the start and scorched around the the bend to be one of the leaders down the home straight. He finished on hard to record a Personal Best and new Area Record (Oceania) of 22.97sec (-1.0 headwind). The previous Australian Record had stood since 1985.
From his previous best 200m time of 23.20sec (+1.6 tailwind) it shows good improvement. His time was 10th fastest overall of the Semi’s and amazingly this performance has also reached Chad his first Athletics Australia ‘B’ qualifying standard for the 200m.
In case you missed the great effort, here is the race… Aussie Chad goes from lane 3.
Chad is really looking forward to the 100m starting on Wednesday 5.50pm WST!
Chad has done another amazing performace! This time in was in semi-final 2 of the Men’s T13 100m where he again broke his PB and the Oceania/Australian Record with a fantastic time of 11.18sec (w:+0.4).
The run has seen him qualify 6th fastest overall and included him in the final Friday at 1.05am WST (lane 2). Not bad for his first year of Athletics… and he has shown he has the nerve and temperament to stand up on the biggest stage possible.
In case you missed the great man’s performance… here it is!
Chad has finished his IPC World Athletics Championship campaign with another PB & AR (Oceania Record).
Placing 5th in the T13 100m final with 11.17sec (w:-1.2) behind World Record Holder Jason Smyth. Perris was the only one to run a PB in the final. Incredibly he was only 0.05sec away from the silver medal and 0.02sec from bronze. What an amazing performance!
